TXST No-Code for Veterans

About TXST No-Code for Veterans

In collaboration with Shenandoah University, the Technology Innovation Office (TIO) at Texas State University is proud to announce the TXST No-Code for Veterans Program. No-Code for Veterans is part of the TXST No-Code Program.

The program is a boot camp series comprised of weekly workshops aimed at introducing student veterans without coding experience to computer application design and development using tools that do not rely on code and are in high demand in the workplace. Individuals with basic computer skills will be able to produce fully functional web and mobile applications within days - not weeks or months!

"By 2025, 70% of the world's app development will be done by no-code developers." Microsoft Corporation, 2022

APPLICATION FORM

In this program, you will design and build at least two applications without having to learn a coding language like C# or java. Furthermore, you will participate in an end-to-end process that will familiarize you with the whole product life cycle concept, from solution conception to delivery.

Most importantly, you will use an industry-leading no-code platform, and while you are in college, you will acquire relevant job skills.

After you complete the program, you will maintain access to all the tools and apps you develop for as long as you are a student. However, the skills you acquire will help your career, no matter what field you choose to pursue.

Program Details

I am not a computer science major. Can I participate?

The program aims to enable participants, no matter which career path they have chosen, to gain skills that are important in all segments of the workforce. Our goal is not to change your mind and turn you into a computer scientist. Instead, the goal is to empower you to be your best in your chosen career.

When does the program start?

We will hold weekly training sessions on Friday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. CST. Yes. We expect participants to complete an independent project. You will develop that project outside of class time. However, your work will be supported via an online community of participants and community calls on Tuesday nights.

Will there be swag?

Of course. We will have several items provided by Microsoft and the Division of Information Technology. We will distribute some swag items at the beginning and some at the end of the program.

Absolutely. Your apps will be available to you for as long as you are a member of your university, but you will learn how to take them with you when you graduate.

OK. Where do I sign up?

Please complete the program application.

Why is the No-Code for Veterans program essential, and how will it impact me?

Intuitively, we know digital technologies are an important part of the expectations for today's workforce. Digital skills will only become more critical in the future. Additionally, people who graduate with digital skills and certificates will command higher salaries from day one. At Texas State University, this program is vital for additional reasons. The current digital workforce suffers from a lack of representation. Women and other minority groups are severely underrepresented in the digital economy, which means that decisions affecting large segments of our population and shaping the economy are not being made with all the necessary input and perspective to make them equitable. Texas State University is uniquely positioned to impact this space as a minority-majority-serving institution. Graduating diverse digitally-enabled students will help us secure a more equitable future for all. You can be an agent of change.
No-Code for Veterans is a unique program focusing on enabling participation by lowering barriers associated with bringing people into the digital economy.
